While studying the contemporary realities of the Arab world, we realized that the demand for modernity in architecture and interiors there is already very strong. When creating this project, we aimed to respect the context and history of the place where it is located, combining minimalism, classical interior design techniques, and bold color accents. . . The marquetry panel pattern, developed in collaboration with Sicilia Intarsi using veneers of various wood species, became the only striking decorative element in the space. The pattern represents a transitional state between Italian classicism (inspired by a visit to Sicily and the workshop of Riccardo D'Antone, the owner of the company) and contemporary minimalism. . . Based on the main pattern, we also designed modular marquetry panels. They assemble like tiles. By rotating them in different directions, it is possible to create completely different compositions. They can be either three-dimensional or flat. These panels were used in the headboard of the hotel room. . . Together with Sicilia Intarsi, we presented this project at exhibitions in Paris, New York, and Dubai. .
