FINGERS CROSSED
FINGERS CROSSED BEAUTY PARLOUR, Moscow, Russia The parlour is located in a 19th century building in the historical Kitay-Gorod district of Moscow. We decided to split the space in two zones: the first one, designed in modern style, is the reception with the main staircase, whereas the second one, housing the offices of the masters, was designed in its contrast. The entrance is a corridor, with high ceilings and a pink staircase, that leads to the reception and the smoothie bar. Behind it, there is the storage space and a secret bathroom. All the walls are decorated with perforated metal from a Russian factory. The wall panels are grey - the signature color of the parlour. Communications are hidden behind the panels. The bathroom is done completely in pink. The main space is dedicated to the manicure hall. The 19th century ceiling was left without extra plaster. The modern black light fixtures accentuate the complex texture. The hardwood floors are well-preserved, but required partial reconstruction. The missing parts were filled with pink patches, that conceptually mix the old and the new together. The room centre is marked by an island table, specially designed for the parlour. The tall granite carcass of the ta- ble accentuates the height of the ceilings. The decorative racks with arches of various sizes are from the Crosby Studios collection.
