Ruetemple Studio had an assignment to reconstruct the attic of a country house. . Upon getting up to the second floor, we realized immediately that the space is not used 100% efficiently: . There was little light inside with dark lining, the ceilings and lateral underroof parts were hidden, and something had to be urgently done about it. . So it became clear that our main task was to reveal the potential of the house, so we decided to change the architecture of the second floor, expanding the space and letting the light in. . We raised the roof ridge just 1 meter higher and got a number of advantages: . -First, the bedroom acquired the second tier, to which we assigned the function of recreation, library and work area. . -Secondly, the proportions of the house changed, which clearly benefited it, as the house was entirely transformed. . In addition, we reconstructed the facade: the brick color was replaced with the white one, contrasting black details and a new dark gray roof. . The color solution of the facade corresponds to the interior of the altered bedroom: the interior is built on white and black, but also there is warm texture and wood surface finish. . The ceiling of the bedroom increased to 6 meters. Thanks to the attic windows totaling 5 units, as well as a panoramic window with the balcony overlooking beautiful pines, the space has got much light. . In addition, the white color of the walls and ceilings visually expanded the room. And we have inserted a wooden podium with warm textured surface in this boundless white space. . The podium is a zoning element - it divides the entrance and the dressing area from the sleeping and recreation area. And this podium is multifunctional: it contains a bar counter, a bed, levels leading to the stairs of the second tier, but in combination they also serve as a table, shelves and a sitting area by the fireplace. . Some special atmosphere was created at the second tier with light falling down from the mansard dormer windows, white rough slopes of the roof, the rhythm of white columns, as if it were an attic art studio. You feel like working and creating something, sinking down in the comfortable chairs and watching the starry sky or just napping with a book on the cott. .
